A couple years ago at convention when I was given the award for reaching Royal Ambassador in the record time of only 18 months (2000 cycles) in 4 weeks; approx $50k in cycle income plus match and global bonus and so forth it was about $100k that month in income), I gave a talk that I entitled “Just Do Stuff”. It was a play on the Nike slogan “Just Do It” and I did that because we had a speaker at the convention who was previously with Nike and coming up with that slogan was his claim to fame.

Anyway, the presentation was just a bunch of random slides of me “doing stuff”. However, each one of them had a Vemma story around it. For example, a picture of me playing golf. I have enrolled several people over the last few years since I started playing golf. I play golf, I meet people, we become friends, they join. Does everyone join? No, but some do. A picture of me on the ski slopes. Ski down the hill, get in the single line (it is faster), ride up the chair for 5 minutes with a new person, hand out business card, repeat. Does every person join? No, but some do. You get the idea. My suggestion to people is to go out and do what you love to do, get around like minded people, and that is where friends are made and where networking happens.

Now, today on my training call, I talked about the new book that is available at www.vemmatools.com called “The Business of the 21st Century” by Robert Kiyosaki. He is the guy who wrote the bestseller “Rich Dad, Poor Dad“. The book is excellent. Dana Scranton (a Vemma rep) was on my call and he too had read the book and he did an excellent job of summarizing what the book says. Essentially, Kiyosaki says network marketing is a great business, it is fun, it gives you time and money freedom, it is great for personal development, it is a business everyone can afford to start, and if you work hard for 5 years with a good company you will most likely never have to work again.

That is a very powerful message from a very credible source, and it is especially powerful during these economic times. If someone reads that book and “gets it”, they could turn in to a very committed leader for you. Dana said he bought a case of the books to hand out to people. I think that is a smart move and I will probably do the same. Too bad the book is not an mlm that we could get paid for recommending…lol.

Isn’t it interesting how some people don’t like mlm, but I am the total opposite. I don’t like things that are not mlm. If I recommend something, people buy it. I know the power of my word of mouth endorsement to my network. I think the reason many people don’t like network marketing is because it exposes just how weak their is.

I say: “Don’t get bitter, get better”.

Once you realize the power of having a strong network of people who respect your opinion, you will be inclined to develop positive relationships and you will renew your commitment to personal growth. Well, I digress.

Ok, so as far as “doing stuff”. It is great to get out and meet like minded people. Make a friend then make a sale…in that order. Don’t be weird and annoying and pitch people before you have rapport (you can get rapport in a matter of minutes with practice…perhaps the topic of my next blog) Another thing to “just do” is hand out some books, or some Vemma voice, or some samples. Make it your goal to put something in the hands of 5 prospects this week. Pretend like your life depends on it. Then do it again the next week…and the next week…and the next week…until you reach your goals, and by then it will be such a habit that you can’t help but just keep doing it because it is fun. So get out there and “Do Stuff”. Start with ordering 5 or 10 copies of that book, reading it, and handing them out to a few prospects. ~Matt

It seems that I have been getting asked that question a lot lately by prospects. I find that people are open to buying the $1,000 package, but they want to know that it is the logical thing to do. So, here is what I tell people:

There are a lot of reasons to get started with a Gold Package ($1,000) package including:

1. You will not leave money on the table because you are “grandfathered” in at the Gold level for 120 days. For example, if someone in your downline buys a Gold package you will earn a $200 fast start. If that person brings in another person with a Gold package, you will earn a $50 builder bonus if you are a Gold. That would only be $20 if you are a Silver and only $10 if you are a bronze.
2. More importantly, people always duplicate the way they came in to the business. So if you join with $1,000 you tend to bring in others with $1,000 packages. What would you rather duplicate…$120 orders or $1,000 orders??
3. Another big thing is the simple fact that people tend to be more committed if they have a bigger financial commitment.
4. Lastly, the person who buys a $1,000 package has much more inventory to use for their own use and for samples. Time and time again I have had people wish they had ordered $1,000 package because they run out of product.

I’d love to hear any other reasons that you use when enrolling people. Also any questions you have about this. To me, there is only one way to get started and that is with the Gold package. If someone I am enrolling does not do that, I am reluctant to sign them up because it tells me they are not serious. Unless, of course, they don’t have the money. I mean they truly don’t have the money or any way of getting it. Even then, in my experience, if someone can’t find a way to come up with $1,000 then they will have trouble coming up with what it takes to make the business happen. What do you think about that?
